My journey into midwifery has been one filled with passion, dedication, and a profound desire to provide personalized care to individuals and families. It all started during my pursuit of a degree in healthcare, when I initially aspired to become a family physician. My vision was clear: I wanted to care for individuals not just as patients but as unique people with their own families, circumstances, and aspirations. I aimed to tailor care to their individual goals and empower them with education and guidance to take control of their own well-being.

However, life had an unexpected turn for me. After completing my degree, I discovered the world of nurse midwives, and in that moment, I realized that this was the role I had been searching for all along. It was a call I couldn't ignore. I left the path I thought I had to take to pursue the path that was designed for me and started accelerated nursing school.

My path in healthcare led me to a small community hospital where I worked on a maternity unit that encompassed labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum care. This experience gave me valuable insights into the world of childbirth and the importance of holistic care. It was during this time that I made a significant decision—to have my first baby in a freestanding birth center. The experience was transformative, and it deepened my passion for midwifery.

As I continued my education in midwifery, I had the privilege of working at the same birth center as a birth assistant nurse. The supportive group welcomed me with open arms, allowing me to train as a student midwife. Eventually, they recognized my dedication and commitment and hired me as a staff midwife. For three and a half years, I attended births in both hospital and birth center settings, gaining invaluable experience and insights.

The pivotal moment came when I decided to take a step further and venture into home birth with my own practice. The timing aligned perfectly with the birth of my own child through a home birth, further solidifying my belief in the beauty and empowerment of this birthing option. Fruitful Midwifery was born out of this profound journey and my unwavering commitment to providing exceptional midwifery care.

In my practice, I'm guided by the wisdom encapsulated in the words, "The midwife said to her, fear not...". I firmly believe that the experience of pregnancy and birth is foundational to the journey of motherhood. Like a well-tended fruit tree, pregnancy and birth should be nurtured, supported, and celebrated. The process of bringing forth life is a privilege and an honor, and it holds the potential to nourish and sustain future generations.

Furthermore, I firmly believe in the power of collaborative partnerships in healthcare. When care is approached with a mindset of cooperation and mutual respect, it becomes a fruitful and rewarding journey for both the care provider and the individual receiving care. I am deeply committed to fostering such partnerships and ensuring that each person I care for receives the personalized, compassionate, and empowering support they deserve.
